Down
Hole Electromagnetic Surveys
Downhole TEM surveys usually use a large,
surface transmitter loop and a small diameter downhole receiver coil. The
new Atlantis 3-Component Borehole Magnetometer and Geonics BH-43D coil that
GPX use allows measurement of the axial (up-hole) and two orthogonal crosshole
components of the magnetic field to be measured
simultaneously.
Measurements are normally conducted at spacings
of 5 to 25 metres.
GPX combine a SMARTEM receiver with the Atlantis or Geonics BH43-3D probe.
The system is usually powered by a Zonge GGT30 Transmitter and 30 kva generator.
See an example of this in a difficult environment.
